Part One- The Hearth and The Salamander p.11-21

Words:

1. mausoleum-a large stately tomb or a building housing such to several tombs.
2. tallow-any of various similar fats,such as those obtained from plants.
3. fibre-a slender and greatly elongated solid substance; the inherent complex of attributes that determine a persons moral and ethical actions and reactions; a leatherlike material made by compressing layers of paper or cloth.
4. glinted-a momentary flash of light; sparkle.
5. pulverized-to pound, crush, or grind to dust; demolish.
6. stratum-A horizontal layer of material, especially one of several parallel layers arranged one on top of another.
7. serum-The clear yellowish fluid obtained upon separating whole blood into its solid and liquid components after it has been allowed to clot.
8. contra sedative-an agent or a drug that has an exciting, stimulating, anxiety or stressful effect on the person.
9. cataract-a cloudiness or opacity in the normally transparent crystalline lens of the eye. This cloudiness can cause a decrease in vision and may lead to eventual blindness.
10. hearth- area in front of a fire place; home.


Plot:

Montag just got home from work, and from his encounter with Clarrise McClelland. When he got home, he discovered that his wife had taken all of her pills in one night and overdosed. He called the ambulance and got some person who's been doing it for a couple years now, but none of them were certified M.D.'s. Montag's wife had gottan up the next day, and didn't even remember a thing. She didn't even believe Montag when he told her she had taken all of her pills and overdosed.

I don't really get this book, just started reading it, and it is very confusing. I think its a book about the future but idk. well....ii hope i get it soon.
